12 years of
community & growth.

2012
The Launch

Moving to Exeter was great, but it was challenging to meet the local business community. After working in other cities and finding coworking to be the heart of connections, Exeter needed a place for a thriving ecosystem. The Generator Hub was born.— Neil Finnie, Co-Founder

2014
One Became Two

Jim Strong joined as co-founder after discovering the Hub while looking for his own cowork home. A shared passion for community — and a Friday cowork beer — led to a partnership.— Jim Strong, Co-Founder

2016
Down by the River

A second Generator Hub opened right on Exeter's beautiful and historic quayside — a unique location with its own vibe, surrounded by independent eateries, bars, shops, and nature. This is now our home.

2018
Three is the Magic Number

Liz Finnie joined the team, bringing operations and sustainability to the forefront while remaining embedded in the community. The team was complete.— Liz Finnie, Co-Founder & Operations

2020
The Great Pause

The pandemic paused everything overnight — but the community remained loyal and strong. We consolidated to one location, bringing all our members together under one roof at the quayside.

2022
10 Years & More

Ten years of the Generator Hub — celebrated with many happy memories of great staff, members, events, collaborations, and friendships. Looking forward to the next ten years with our Generator Hub family.

2023
Room to Grow

Demand for space kept growing, so we did too. We expanded our office capacity at the quayside — more private offices, more desks, more room for the businesses that now call the Hub home. A reflection of a community that keeps getting stronger.

2024
Bigger & Better

Another year, another expansion. More space added at the quay as the Generator Hub community continued to flourish. New members, new collaborations, new friendships — and a building that finally matched the ambition of the people inside it.

the space.
